Meet Nicky Byrne: Boyzone Star, Radio Host, and Eurovision Commentator
From Boyzone to Broadcasting
Nicky Byrne is an Irish singer, songwriter, radio host, and television personality. He is best known as a member of the popular boy band Boyzone, which sold over 25 million records worldwide.
After Boyzone went on hiatus in 2000, Byrne pursued a solo career, releasing two albums. He also began hosting radio shows on RTÉ 2fm and 2FM Breakfast with Nicky Byrne.
Eurovision Success
In 2013, Byrne represented Ireland in the Eurovision Song Contest with the song " Sunlight." He finished in 10th place, Ireland's best result in the contest since 2008.
Since 2015, Byrne has been a commentator for the Eurovision Song Contest on RTÉ. He has also hosted the Irish national selection process, Eurosong, since 2016.
Personal Life
Byrne is married to Georgina Ahern, the daughter of former Irish Taoiseach Bertie Ahern. They have three children together. Byrne is also a keen GAA fan and plays for the St. Vincent's club in Dublin.
Other Ventures
In addition to his music and broadcasting career, Byrne has also appeared in several television shows and films. He has hosted the Irish version of The X Factor and was a judge on Dancing with the Stars.
Byrne is also a successful businessman and has his own clothing line, Byrne By Nicky Byrne. He is also the co-founder of the production company, So Television.
